Brent crude futures slid Friday on news that the South Sudanese government has recaptured a key oil city from rebel forces. Brent crude on ICE Futures Europe fell as low as $106.06 a barrel on the news, after trading as high as $107.25 a barrel earlier in the session. Light, sweet crude for February delivery rose 61 cents, or 0.6%, to $92.27 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Violence in South Sudan in recent weeks has boosted Brent, the international oil benchmark, as halted crude-oil exports from the young nation have reduced global supplies.
