Heavy fog that has plagued the US Gulf Coast for the last four days has lifted enough that Houston Pilots Monday have resumed boarding all vessels on the Houston Ship Channel, a dispatcher said. “The channel is open and we started boarding again at 10:35 am CST (1635 GMT)” the dispatcher said. Pilots had resumed boarding outbound vessels at 2 am. The dispatcher said the pilots were working through the queue of ships. “Right now we have about 25 inbound waiting and five outbound,” he said at 1:30 pm. “As far as sailings go, we are all caught up, but inbound could take a day or two.” The suspension of ship movements in the Houston Ship Channel impacts the delivery and loading schedules of crude oil, petroleum and petrochemical products.
