Total gas production across the seven primary US shale plays is expected to fall 450 MMcf/d month on month to a combined 46.308 Bcf/d in April, the Energy Information Administration said Monday in its monthly Drilling Productivity Report. The EIA projected that natural gas production will fall in six of the seven key basins — the Bakken, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Marcellus, Niobrara, Permian and Utica. The only increase is expected in the Utica, where production is expected to rise about 1% to 3.645 Bcf/d. EIA expects the biggest volumetric decrease in the Eagle Ford, where output is projected to drop 182 MMcf/d to 6.335 Bcf/d in April. The Eagle Ford is also expected to experience the biggest percentage decrease, about 2.8%.
