Under an onslaught of bombs and enemy ground offensives aimed at its strongholds in Syria and Iraq, Islamic State hit out again with attacks in crowded public areas of Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 24 people in two separate bombings. A car loaded with explosives blew up near a cinema in a busy New Baghdad neighborhood of the Iraqi capital, leaving at least 14 people dead and setting nearby shops ablaze, Iraq’s Interior Ministry said, adding that most of the casualties were women and children.
