Output gains in the US Permian Basin helped drive first-quarter oil production growth for ExxonMobil and Chevron, the companies said Friday. Now ExxonMobil’s first-quarter total upstream liquids production rose 5% from the same period in 2018, driven by a 140% surge in its Permian Basin output, the US oil and natural gas major said. ExxonMobil’s first-quarter oil-equivalent production averaged 3.98 million b/d, up 2% from the same period in 2018. Excluding entitlement effects and divestments, first-quarter liquids output increased 3% from the same period a year ago, the company said.
