Highlights Year-on-year output down 18.5% Output from all major basins jump on week Houston — Weekly US coal production was estimated to be over 9.8 million st in the week ended Jan. 2, up 12.5% from the previous week, Energy Information Administration data said Jan. 7. From the year-ago week, output was down 18.5%. From a five-year average of 11.9 million st, production declined 17.4%. Weekly production across all four major basin jumped week on week, led by Wyoming and Montana joint output. Production from the two states, which is largely made up of Powder River Basin coal, was over 4.6 million st in the most recent week, up 13.4% from the prior week.
