Russia’s largest oil company, state-controlled Rosneft, has asked the government for over 2 trillion rubles ($49 billion) in aid to weather Western sanctions, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said Wednesday, according to local news agencies. Rosneft had asked for 1.5 trillion rubles in aid ($42 billion at the time) from the government in mid-August. Rosneft, which has a net debt of about $55 billion, has been targetedby Western sanctions against Russia in response to Moscow’s annexation of Crimea and its support of pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
