The Houston Ship Channel was closed for the second time on Thursday morning due to fog, after a three-hour halt earlier in the day. The Galveston/Texas City Pilots suspended all vessel boardings at 9:37 am CST (1537 GMT) Thursday, while the Houston Pilots suspended all vessel boardings at 9:45 am CST, according to a notification from the Houston/Galveston Vessel Traffic Service. The ship channel has been closed to both inbound and outbound traffic, said Houston Pilots dispatcher Matt Brock, and about 20 vessels are currently affected. “According to the weather forecasts, the fog could last till Saturday, so we’re looking at about 24 to 48 hours,” said Brock. The ship channel was closed to both inbound and outbound traffic earlier Thursday, between 2:05 am CST and 5:05 am CST. –Deepa Vijiyasingam, [email protected] –Edited by Keiron Greenhalgh, [email protected]
