With more natural gas-fired generation being used by the power industry and fuel delivery concerns for generators heading into winter, the North American Electric Reliability Corp. on Friday made several recommendations for improving power grid reliability. The recommendations are part of NERC’s annual winter reliability assessment, which finds that coal delivery issues and interruptible gas supplies for generators can lead to reliability concerns, even during winter, which is not a peak electricity demand season in most of the US and Canada.
