Large and medium-sized Chinese steel mills reported losses of 53.1 billion yuan (nearly $8.2 billion) during the first 11 months of 2015, the China Iron and Steel Association said, Xinhua reported Jan. 2. As steel prices have fallen from nearly 6,000 yuan to 1,600 yuan per metric ton in the past two years, Chinese steel producers have experienced painful drops in revenue; among the 101 steel mills that the China Iron and Steel Association tracks, total sales revenue fell by 19.3 percent in 2015 compared with the previous year.
