The renewed attacks by new militant groups in Niger Delta region since early this year have reduced Nigeria’s oil production in the onshore and shallow water by 70 per cent, according to operators. Stakeholders who gathered at the ongoing Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAIC!) organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, said that the country is now battling with zero production and zero revenue from these sources. The Niger Delta militants have vowed to reduce Nigeria’s crude oil production to zero, making the country to record a 20-year low in output for the first time in 20 years.
