The Panama Canal Authority will boost the number of daily reserved transit slots available for LNG vessels starting October 1 and will make improvements that will allow it to increase the number again by 2022 as it looks to keep ahead of demand, especially from US exporters, Deputy Administrator Manuel Benitez said Wednesday. The opening of an expansion of the canal two years ago ushered in an new era for the LNG industry, giving shippers from the Americas the ability to significantly shorten their delivery times to Asia, the world’s biggest importer of the liquefied form of the power plant and home heating fuel.
