The US Coast Guard has rescinded a 34-foot draft limitation on shipping in a Houston Ship Channel contamination zone between Tucker’s Bayou and Light 116 and resumed two-way traffic for tows, while ships remain limited to one-way traffic in the affected area, it said Thursday.  “All movements through the impacted area will cease at sunset,” the USCG Port Coordination Team (PCT) said on a conference call. “This means your transit through the affected areas must be complete at that time.” According to the USCG Vessel Traffic Service, several outbound ships were caught out by the fall of darkness Wednesday and were required to go into lay berths overnight to await inspection for contaminants after ship traffic resumed at 8:30 am CDT (1430 GMT) Thursday.
