Iraq’s parliament is expected to convene on Wednesday to vote on granting confidence to the new cabinet of Prime Minister-designate Mohammad Allawi, first deputy speaker Hasan al-Kaabi said, the state-run Iraqi News Agency reported Sunday.  Parliament will hold a session on Monday to review the resumes of candidates picked by Allawi for his cabinet, Kaabi added. Earlier this month, Allawi said he had picked independent candidates for his cabinet, without any political interference. It is not yet known if current oil minister and deputy prime minister for energy affairs, Thamer Ghadhban, will retain his post which he has held since November 2018.
