Weekly US coal train loadings averaged 57.9 trains/day in the week ended Feb. 19, down 9.3 trains/day from the previous week and down 15.3 trains/day from the year-ago week, Surface Transportation Board data showed Feb. 26. The drop week on week was largely driven by a decline in Powder River Basin loadings. PRB loadings averaged 28.7 trains/day, down 6.8 trains/day from the week before and down 15.8 trains/day year on year. In the Illinois Basin, loadings averaged 3.8 trains/day, down 0.5 train/day from the prior week and up 0.2 train/day from the year-ago week.
