India boosted significantly crude oil imports from the United States in February, while it slashed purchases from the world’s top oil exporter, Saudi Arabia, to the point of America overtaking the Saudis as India’s second-largest oil supplier, trade data obtained by Reuters showed on Monday. The world’s third-largest oil importer, India, has been trying to diversify its crude oil imports and not rely too much on Middle Eastern oil in recent months. This has been exacerbated by OPEC+ policies to tighten the market and lift oil prices, which hurt India’s oil consumption and economy.
