BP Plc aspires to be the oil industry’s climate champion. Last year, the London-based company became the first of the world’s supermajors to embrace an eventual phase-out of all greenhouse gas emissions. But a Bloomberg News analysis of new data collected from the Permian Basin, the largest U.S. oil field, shows that BP’s operations are among the dirtiest of dozens of companies operating there.
