France’s biggest oil company is discounting gas it sells at its service stations across the country, a novel move by one of the world’s largest energy firms amid pressure from governments to lower prices at the pump. Oil major TotalEnergies SE, TTE 0.04%▲ which competes globally with the likes of Exxon Mobil Corp. and Shell PLC, said Friday it is deepening summer gas-pump discounts already in place at its highway service stations through the end of the year and broadening the discounts to all of its filling stations in France.
